9th of May 2016 – Bangalore – Inaugural Ceremony of GMAE#2

The inaugural Ceremony of Batch#2 “IIMB-TBS General Management Programme for Aerospace and Aviation Executives-GMAE” took place at IIMB on Monday, 9th May 2016.

Kick-off – Room 103 – Mr. Mohan Raj Athimoolam Madan, Chief Programme Officer – Executive Education Programmes first welcomed the 48 participants cohort, the IIMB & TBS Aerospace MBA Directors, and the IIMB Faculty Dean, Prof. Ishwar Murthi.

This programme is demanding and requires full involvement. Based on Batch#1 experience, it is highly recommended to anticipate the workload, to prioritize the various activities and to well prepare the diverse lectures. Prof. Ishwar Murthi insisted on the active learning process that occurs in executive program thanks to peer sharing experience. Programme Director Professor S Raghunath, from the Corporate Strategy & Policy area of IIMB, urged the participants to take away lessons in leadership. “You can have your own functional areas of specialization, but remember that as you go up in your professional life you contribute effectively only when you build cohesion. I would like to see you take up leadership positions.”

Professor S. Raghunath and Professor Christophe Bénaroya (from the Marketing Dept of Toulouse Business School, France) recalled that the General Management Programme for Aerospace and Aviation Executives (GMAE) is a specially designed programme which was launched at IIM Bangalore, jointly by Toulouse Business School (TBS), France, Airbus & Airbus Group and IIM Bangalore, on April 26, 2015. It is a milestone being the first aerospace and aviation management programme in the country. The participants who successfully complete the GMAE programme are eligible to pursue the Aerospace MBA being offered by TBS, which is a two-year programme delivered by both faculty members from TBS and IIMB together with industry experts from aeronautics, aviation, space and defence.

In his address, Professor Christophe Bénaroya said that learning is a process of humility. IIMB & TBS are providing everything to make the learning journey as rich and enjoyable as possible, but the participants have to accept to discard some of their practices and to be eager to learn new theories, tools and concepts to move forward. Additionally, an ‘extra mile’ attitude is expected in such a program where initiatives are more than welcomed.
