Conferences, Aeromart Summit India, 8th of November, 2016

In the frame of the Aeromart Summit India, abe (www.adbve.com) and BCI Aerospace (www.bciaerospace.com) have organized a first series of conferences hold at Clarks Exotica Conference Hall, Bangalore, India.

First plenary conference has been given by Sri R.V. Deshpande, Minister of Large and Medium Scale Industries and Infrastructure Development, Government of Karnataka, as State partner of the event. He notably recalled some features regarding Karnataka (4th largest global technology cluster, one of the most industrialized State in India, and obviously home to India’s Aerospace industry). Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has been established in 1940 and since, defense public sector undertakings and R&D institutions like BEML, BHEL, GTRE, NAL, DRDO, ADA, ADE, ISRO, IISc positioned this Staimg_3942_50te a prime location for Aerospace Industry in India. The robust growth of the industry is attracting global majors in the sector to set up shop in India, providing opportunities for Indian industry participation. India’s MRO segment is growing fast as well. In its Karnataka Aerospace Policy (2013-2023), this State intends to take advantage of the promising market growth and strives to project the State as the aerospace hub for Asia in the next 5 years and as one of top global aerospace and MRO destinations by 2023. To achieve this, Karnataka defined and is implementing a New Aerospace Policy 2013 with emphasis on the development of infrastructure and human resource. This definitely reinforces the pioneering initiative of IIMB & TBS in setting up the GMAE & Aerospace MBA program in Bangalore.

 

Dr. Cimg_4002_50.G. Krishnadas Nair, Honorary President of SIATI/AESI (Society of Indian Aerospace and Industries) presented then an overview of Indian Aerospace Industry. India is the 9th largest aviation market in the world with a size of around 16 bn€ and is poised to be the 3rd largest by 2020. Civil aviation sector has been growing steadily registering a growth of 13.8% during the last 10 years. Air transport has attracted foreign direct investments over half billion Euros from 2000 to 2015. India has the potential to become a significant player in the global aerospace supply chain with cost advantages of 15-25 percent in manufacturing. In addition, India offers robust technical and engineering capabilities backed by top scientific, technical and management institute. With its growing aircraft fleet, strategic location advantage, rich pool of engineering expertise and lower labor costs, India has huge potential to become a global MRO hub. The current market is estimated around 700 million Euros. Owing to the fast development of the fleet, domestic MRO is no more just desirable, it becomes critical.Next to Kempe Gowda International Airport, Bengaluru, the Bengaluru Aerospace Park (BAP) will be extended and various incentives and initiatives will encourage setting up of comprehensive MRO facilities.

Mr. Olivier Devaux, Head Supplier Development support / Procurement India/Middle-East/Singapore & Thailand then

presented Airbus Procurement policy and strategy.

After the tea & coffee break, Mr. Mat Palmberg, Vice President Industrial Partnerships, Saab Aeronautics and Johan Falk, Head of Sourcing, Saab Aeronautics explained the scope of activities of Saab India Technologies and the policy in terms of sourcing and partnerships.  Saab Aeronautics is the Gold Sponsor of the Aeromart Summit.

Mr. Naresh Palta, CEO, Aerospace & Defense, Maini Group offered a complementary perspective, introducing essentials of robust supply chain management.
