Meeting with Cansu Sakallioglu, student at the Aerospace MBA

As a young Turkish professional, Ms. Cansu Sakallioglu is living her TBS Aerospace MBA year intensely. A key year towards a promising career path.

Cansu is a full-time student, a “delegate” in the 2017 Aerospace MBA at the Toulouse Business School. She is daily impressed by the richness of her academic year. “So many things have happened to me since I arrived in Toulouse,” enthuses the young woman. Aged 29, the young Turkish engineer graduated from Istanbul Technical University – ITÜ-, including a semester in Italy, at the Turin Polytechnic, as part of an Erasmus exchange. For the past three years she has been an Aircraft Maintenance Planning Engineer with Onur Air.

Turkish aerospace sectors in development

Onur Air operates mainly Airbus A 300’s and has a fleet of about 20 aircraft. Headquartered at Istanbul’s Atatürk airport, the company is primarily positioned on domestic scheduled flights but also operates charter flights in Europe and Asia. Like the company, the Turkish aerospace sector is growing rapidly. “From state owned Turkish Airlines to low-cost carriers, airlines are doing well and traffic is steadily increasing. The largest company in the sector, Turkish Aerospace Industry (TAI), continues to grow and works closely with Airbus. Similarly, the manufacture of satellites is in full swing,” notes Cansu, who also adds: “The opening in 2018 of the new Istanbul airport, considered to be the largest in the world, should confirm this.”
It was the moment for Cansu to perfect her knowledge. “As soon as I started working, I knew that I wanted to go further in my studies. My desire grew when I discovered the Aerospace MBA in Toulouse. It was the “airbus dream” that was realized!” Her enthusiasm has not waned. “We discover in depth all the aerospace sectors and we can truly choose what suits us. The immersion in an open and multicultural atmosphere is a great advantage of this course “.

Acquiring international experience

Within a few months, Cansu will return to her professional life. Her previous position was more in the technical domain but close to the Finance and Commercial departments. “Today, I plan to continue my career in an airline, in the areas of strategy, marketing and / or communication, with a goal towards a managerial position.” However she does not rule out the possibility of offering her skills to airports, which she has discovered are very dynamic. “I will be more selective than three years ago, when I looked for work for the first time,” Cansu says. “I now know what I want and what I can bring to a company as well as what it can teach me in return.”

The geographical area envisaged by Cansu Sakallioglu is Europe. A talent that will no doubt be recognized by employers.
