Launch of a Turboprop aircraft Saras Mk2 – Creation of a first Flying Operation Theatre/ICU by two IIMB/TBS Alumni! – Wings India 2022

After completing their respective programs in 2019, two Delegates (Alumni) out of the 48 students of GMAE/AeMBA Batch 3, i.e. Mr. Shijo Francis, Asst. Project Director from CSIR-NAL (National Aerospace Laboratories, Bengaluru, INDIA) and Dr. Rahul Singh Sardar, a Critical care specialist Doctor, also the Founder Director of ICATT Air Ambulance Service in India, came together again, bringing their organizations together in developing NAL’s Saras Mk2, 19 seater aircraft, into a Flying Intensive care/Operation theatre. Rahul’s ICATT needed a solution in this segment, and Shijo’s plane fit the bill. Now, experts from both the organizations are working together in creating the first Flying Operation Theatre/ ICU at a prototype stage.

The just concluded India Civil Aviation Airshow, Wings India 2022 held on 24-27 March 2022 at Hyderabad, INDIA witnessed the transfer of Letter of Intent (LOI) from ICATT to CSIR-NAL for two SARAS MK 2 aircraft for Specialized Air Ambulance services.

Because of their training at IIMB and TBS, France both these individuals’ mindset is on the Business end of this product. They are looking at promoting this Aircraft in the Global market for its very niche and unique utilization which they believe is a highly fruitful, albeit neglected segment of the Market – Specialized Air Ambulance.

“We thank our Professors/Faculty members from IIM-B & TBS –France, especially Prof. Raghunath of IIM-B, and Prof Christophe Bénaroya of TBS-France, and Management of both the business schools”
