TBS Participates in Creation of European Space University

The UNIVERSEH project

European Space University of Earth and Humanity

Under the aegis of the Federal University of Toulouse, TBS participates in the creation of the European Space University of Earth & Humanity, a project launched by the European Commission under the name UNIVERSEH.

The European Space University of Earth and Humanity or UNIVERSEH project aims to create a university of reference for the space sector in the European Union. The project combines the expertise of recognized players in aerospace education to align key teaching and research skills with the needs of the job market and stimulate the industry, employment as well as increase sustainability in the space sector.

Combined expertise in space education

To built this unique university in Europe, the UNIVERSEH project combines the expertise of the Federal University in Toulouse (Université Fédérale de Toulouse) in France, the University of Luxemburg (Luxemburg), Heinrich-Heine-Universität in Düsseldorf (Germany), Luleå Tekniska Universitet in Sweden and Akademia Górniczo-Hutnicza im. Stanisława Staszica Krakowie in Poland.

Spotlight on the Toulouse area

The Federal University of Toulouse coordinates the project, with the participation of five local members, which are all recognized for their specific know-how and academic excellence in the field: Université Toulouse Jean Jaurès, Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse III, Toulouse -INP, ISAE-Supaéro and TBS. All institutions involved are educational flagships from the European capital of Aerospace.

Cover all job aspects in the space sector

The European Space University of Earth and Humanity project aims to train future space sector employees, collaborators and entrepreneurs across Europe by combining science, engineering, economics, social science & humanities, patents & innovation, science & medicine, arts & culture… in order to cover all aspects of this highly evolving sector.

Innovative approaches to teaching

The UNIVERSEH project also aims to develop innovative approaches to teaching and a common European culture by sharing skills and best practices and by favoring mutilingualism.

Erasmus+ student exchances

Supported by Erasmus+, the UNIVERSEH project attaches great importance to the European and international dimension and promotes student mobility between the different partner universities in France, Luxemburg, Germany, Sweden and Poland.

TBS, expertise in space management

Firmly anchored in its local aerospace territory, TBS has a long history in educating managers for the sector, with programs that are tailored to the needs of today’s companies, such as the MSc Aerospace Management, which received the CGE quality label from the French Conférence des Grandes Ecoles and the Aerospace MBA, the only MBA degree in Aerospace Management that holds the AMBA accreditation since 2002.

TBS also provides other aerospace programs, such as the Bachelor in Aviation Management (in partnership with ENAC), short executive education programs, such as the Space Business & Applications specialized track and even custom-designed programs. TBS also participates in ENAC’s MS Management of Air Transportation.

All these programs are taught under the umbrella of the Aerospace & Mobility Center of Excellence, which actively supports research in the field, as is shown by TBS’s participation in the SIRIUS Chair, an innovative private-public partnership between TBS, Université Toulouse 1 Capitole, the CNES research center, Airbus Defense & Space and Thales Alenia Space.

The UNIVERSEH project officially takes off on December 14, 2020 with the online meeting of all partnering institutions.

TBS’s participation in this international and multidisciplinary project will contribute to the valorization of our differentiating expertise in the fields of aerospace, entrepreneurship and CSR. It also vouches for our capacity to contribute to the international development and reach of our territory.

Pascale BUENO MERINO – Dean of Research – TBS

This European project lies at the heart of the international and territorial mission of TBS and the Aerospace & Mobility Center of Excellence: we aim to inspire today’s and tomorrow’s talents, develop their skills and know-how, promote sustainable innovation and open the door wide to the immense possibilities in the space sector!
